At times, we will list certain links of note related to workplace issues that may be relevant to you or your organizations.  Today, we want to focus on some sites that are looking to find some of the best workplaces.  Since our mission is to help foster productive and highly desirable workplaces, we feel that highlighting the best practices of workplaces will create a domino effect and encourage other organizations to follow suit.  Here are a few:

  • Winning Workplaces and the Wall Street Journal are accepting nominations for their 2009 Top Small Workplaces recognition project with The Wall Street Journal will end on Friday, January 30, 2009.  Just visit this page.  The 2009 winners will be named in The Wall Street Journal on September 28, 2009, and honored at a conference in Chicago (location TBA) on October 1-2, 2009.
  • The Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility is an award that recognizes employers across the country that are successfully using flexibility to meet both business and employee goals.  the deadline for submission of applications is different in each geographic area and can be found on the site.  Perspectives has won this award twice; in 2007 and 2008.
  • The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce “Right Workplace Award”recognizes Chicago companies that improve their competitive advantage by designing and implementing peoples practices that create workplace excellence, leading to successful business results.  Although a deadline for 2009 submission has not yet been established, the applications will probably be available by March 1, 2009.
